The cooperage J. M. Gonçalves is a family type company. It began in the early years of the last century and its evolution and growth were closely linked to the "forefather" of the family, José Maria Gonçalves, who had the know-how and years of experience as a barrel maker to keep up with the contemporary needs of this industry.
After twelve years of working experience in France, José returns to his native land, Palaçoulo, and puts this knowledge and learning from the best french cooperage industries into his own company and country.
Through big steps over the last thirty years, the company has grown and evolved to become the one with most prestige in Portugal.
